Voices Magnified - PSA — DAN DEGLORIA

For this social awareness campaign graphics package—Sibling Rivalry Studio invited me on as a freelance art director/designer—as they were design agency for their client A&E. The pitch & award was for a campaign called Voices Magnified and it played as a PSA on digital platforms (presented here) and as a broadcast package television (click to view). Two separate packages under the same name.

The following frames are the direction I designed and was one of three directions presented. The overall look/feel was conceived by the creative director and I came up with the specific imagery, color palette, layouts, and roadmap for animation. This direction got the award and it was a great team win, we were all happy with the network’s decision and off we went.

The first ask was to dial in the show title design. The designer for the title, not myself, took some more passes at it and came up with the below options. The middle design was selected by the network. From there we animated the open which got trimmed down from the original pitch frames. This ultimately made sense for the PSA format as they are short-form segments.

The open animation of the faces expanding and then coming together was a nice metaphor for the program. The network requested we use that animation to introduce the individual being profiled in each PSA. There were quite of few of these, but each once was made unique through subtle background imagery relating to their specific story, location, or occupation.

Lastly we created a robust toolkit for in-house versioning which included lower thirds, title cards with background, and title cards over footage.
